Press release vol. 2nd

Press release vol. 2ndPress release vol. 2nd: What are we going to do and what can not let us.

Festival SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER already knows the names of the theatre schools for the 29th year.

Forty-five schools from all over the world have signed up with their performances for the International Festival of Theatre Schools SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER. The selection committee decided on who will participate in the festival. Eventually, twelve schools and their performances were chosen.

The visitors of the festival can look forward, for example, to the productions from Latvia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Philippines, Russia, Germany, Croatia, Bulgaria, Austria and, like every year, from Poland, Slovakia and - of course - the Czech Republic. All this takes place from the 2nd to the 6th of April, 2019.

The opening ceremony will take place on the 2nd of April 2019 on Moravian Square, where the Open Air Stage will be erected. Moreover, Slovak singer Katarzia will perform solo there. The next band will be Acute Dose and the students of the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts. Besides theatre productions, the participants can also enjoy musical productions.

The festival exhibition will take place in Kabinet Múz from the 11th of March to the end of the festival. It will be an exhibition of photos from the previous years of the festival SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER.

The students of JAMU have come up with a novelty that expands the festival. The novelty will be a five-day creative WORKSHOP| SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER for students of theatre faculties from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Poland.

The professional lecturer for this workshop is Attila Antal - a Hungarian theatre and film director, composer, and author. The result of the workshop will be a short performance expressing the theme of this year’s festival - SETKÁNÍ Léčí / Regenerate with ENCOUNTER. This performance will be a part of the Closing Ceremony.

The festival organizers would like to thank The International Visegrad Fund, the City of Brno, and the State Fund for Culture for their support in organizing the festival.
