Open call for volunteers

The International Festival of Theatre Schools SETKÁNÍ / ENCOUNTER 2026, April 14–18

Hello!

Would you like to experience an international theatre festival from the inside?
Meet students and teachers from all over the world, discover Brno’s theatres behind the scenes, and become part of an inspiring creative community?

The International Festival of Theatre Schools SETKÁNÍ/ENCOUNTER 2026 will take place 14-18 April 2026 and right now we’re looking for volunteers who want to be part of the festival team.

Every year the festival turns Brno into a living centre of theatre. Students, teachers and artists from all over the world meet, share their work and inspire each other – and all this would not be possible without volunteers.

If you’re curious, open-minded, and ready for a week full of performances, discussions, teamwork, and unforgettable moments — we’d love to have you on board!

And how can you join our team?

  • Usher & Cloakroom Attendant – Be in direct contact with audiences and help run performances in Brno theatres (The Goose on a String Theatre, Theatre on Orlí Street, Studio Marta, HaDivadlo).
  • Discussions & workshops – Assist with talks, moderated meetings, and workshops with festival guests.
  • Festival Runner – Flexible support during festival week — helping wherever needed.
  • Off-programme performances Usher – Support JAMU student performances within the accompanying program
  • The Meeting of Pedagogues and Professionals – Help with events for educators and theatre professionals from Czechia and abroad
  • The Opening Ceremony – Be part of launching the festival on April 14.
  • The Closing Ceremony – Help wrap up the festival on April 18. 4.

What’s in it for you?

It’s not just about helping out at the festival – you’ll become part of a creative, welcoming community — and take home memories you won’t forget.

  • A unique behind-the-scenes festival experience
  • New international friendships and contacts
  • Free access to selected performances (only for ushers & cloakroom attendents, capacity permitting)
  • Discount on the OFF PASS (Off-program – talks, workshops, concerts & more)
  • A chance to experience real student collaboration
  • JAMU & Erasmus students can earn credits for DAALX51 Festival SETKÁNÍ / ENCOUNTER
  • Valuable hands-on experience in organising an international cultural event
  • Backstage tour of all festival theatres

For many of our volunteers, the ENCOUNTER is the beginning of new friendships, collaborations – and often even returns to the festival in future years.

Interested? By filling in the form below, you’ll help us find the role that suits you best.

We can’t wait to meet you!
