Our department of the academy specializes in theatre. Courses like acting, singing, dancing, Aikido, acrobatics and speech (german standard stage language) are taught at our school.
We created our project in five weeks and played it twice at our school in january 2025. It was part of the yearly reoccurring course called “winterproject”. Our mentors were Tomas Flachs and Kira Bohn.

My passport says Swiss, my face says foreigner. Ali and Onur, two native Zurich residents with Turkish immigrant backgrounds, are tired of not being able to say exactly where they come from. Ali is satisfied with the identity of a Turk living in Switzerland, but for Onur, that is too vague and also untrue. The discussion that ensues runs through the entire play, and in the meantime, they are repeatedly confronted with the reality of not being quite Swiss in their contact with society. “We are Kanaken,” is the logical conclusion for Ali, but Onur does not want to identify with this term. Their individual experiences with external attributions clash. Onur’s appearance raises questions about his origins for most people, while Ali clearly fits the Turkish stereotype. Caught up in the search for identity and everyday racism, the two just want to be themselves. Racism is an abstract term, but the two experience its specific consequences.
